Exshaw Plant Forms Community Relations Committee
Exshaw, Alberta July 31, 2007 - Graymont Western Canada's plant in Exshaw, Alberta is pleased to announce the formation of a Community Relations Committee. Committee members and plant manager Pierre Chassat have determined that their mandate is to become actively involved in the needs, concerns and environmental issues in the community of Exshaw and the Bow Corridor area.
So far, Exshaw Committee members have been designated, on a rotating basis, to attend meetings of the Bow Corridor's Environmental Committee (BCEC) with plant manager Pierre Chassat. The BCEC is an environmental watch dog comprised of elected officials, regulatory officials, and business and community representatives. The Exshaw Committee has provided financial donations to the Canmore Health Foundation, the Canmore Rip Tides Swim Club, the annual Gary Anderson Golf Tournament, and to the development of a statue to commemorate the history of the Miner in the Bow Corridor. The committee is now publishing an informative newsletter for the plant employees and community. A plant tour and breakfast were also held in July for Graymont’s neighbours living between Canmore and the plant.
The five committee members elected are Jennifer Lambert as the first chair person, Willie Bridge, Lee Leibel, Rick Pasemko, Brien Knull and Dave Czank.
Graymont takes a long term view of its business and the lime industry and is looking forward to continuing its work in Exshaw and in so doing, improving our environment, contributing to the community as a good neighbor and adding value as a responsible business partner.
